About Us
The owner and operator of Homewood Mattress Outlet, Traci Motherwell is a native Alabamian. From a very early age she had an entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up she chose opportunities that would allow her to control her growth both personally and professionally. Health and wellbeing has always been a focus for Traci and it was one day at the Birmingham YMCA where she was lifeguarding, a transplant surgeon who was doing laps in the pool asked her out on a date to the UAB Surgery Suites. It was there that she fell in love… with surgery and helping save lives. After finishing nursing school at Samford she asked to stay on staff at the hospital and continue scrubbing in surgery. Their response was you are more than welcome to stay here but you will need to circulate not scrub. It was then that she realized she had placed her ladder on the wrong wall. The math was not mathing and Traci soon realized she would become a glorified secretary at that rate and that was just not going to be. It was at that point she got into medical sales and realized she could make a bigger impact in lives and have some fun. It was a bit scary at first transitioning into a once a month paycheck that was totally based on individual performance and lot numbers. Being an Independent Contractor all worked out and it was much better to be rewarded for her efforts and develop in a meritocracy environment. While working in the medical sales arena Traci was able to expand her ability to serve and help others. It also provided her with the opportunity and flexibility to take care of her father who had developed stroke induced dementia. It was during that 2 year window that she started her own concierge business to gain even more flexibility in caring for her dad. When the doors closed on that season, Traci expanded her concierge business and travelled extensively with her different families. For a brief stint she was able to live in Tahiti as well as 7 other states including Washington, California and Texas. It was during this time in her career she started watching the patterns of people and what she was learning was that no matter what the career or background… Everyone wanted a good night’s rest. From Corporate executives that were nearing retirement or a child who was getting their very own big boy / big girl bedroom they all wanted their own great mattress that would give them either the perfect nights sleep or the most wonderfullest indoor trampoline! And here we are today at the next chapter in Traci’s career and Homewood Mattress Outlet is born. Shopping local has always been important to small towns across America and that is exactly what is being provided at Homewood Mattress Outlet. Not only can you shop locally and keep the tax dollars benefiting the local community but you are also provided with the ability to buy AMERICAN through and through. The mattresses are all American made with all American components assembled in American factories by Americans. Back in August 0f 2025 Traci was looking to get back involved with the Patriot movement and that is where her path crossed again with Clay Clark and Darren Conrad. Those two giants of Industry and achievement had partnered together to create the world’s best and biggest mattress business and the writing was on the wall and here we are today.. Ready to serve up the best mattresses to the best people on the planet, you.
During her time living in Boston, Traci had the opportunity to learn about a ton of history and historical facts. Did you know that the saying “sleep tight” originated when sacks of hay were used as mattresses atop an X frame that supported the individual. Top and bottom of the frame made a collapsible frame and connected on either side were long wooden rails with holes drilled out for the rope to slip through. Those ropes provided the support for the mattress but the more they were used the looser the ropes and the less space you had to sleep. So…. the ropes would have to be tightened ever so often to provide a wider surface area for sleep.
